The festival of colours is celebrated across India in early spring. It signifies the triumph of good over evil. Lathmar Holi takes places in Barsana and Nandgaon near Mathura days before actual Holi. Legend has it that Lord Krishna visited his beloved Radha's village on this day and playfully teased her and her friends. Taking offence at this, the women of Barsana chased him away. A similar story places out today between the two towns near Vrindavan.
